About Julie Turner…
Julie is a mixed media textile artist whose work ranges from installations to smaller crafted pieces. Her preoccupation is with changing the surface qualities of fabric using dye and print techniques. She also incorporates found objects in her pieces.
Julie’s work is informed by her reflections on life, and how we develop a sense of self. A consistent narrative in Julie’s work is that of clothing which is not made to be worn. She sees clothes and the way we dress as signifiers of identity. Dolls also feature in her work as faceless objects, open to projected identities. Her work is often characterized by a sense of loss.
Julie lives and works in London and by the sea.
