Projects | Community

Julie is regulary involved in residency projects, working in galleries, schools and community settings. Julie is responsive to the needs and interests of each setting, approaching projects with her experience as an artist, teacher and art therapist. Julie works with a wide range of materials and techniques and creatively engages with both children and adults.

Community Installations

Julie has worked at community events to create large scale pieces of work with children and adults .

These include lanterns, designed and made for the Nottingham City Light Night Event, a large web with hanging sculptures made from recycled materials during the Nottingham Riverside Festival and a large Cityscape, created for 'The Big Draw', by shoppers in a busy shopping Centre.

Art on Prescription

Weekly sessions run in the community for people experiencing mental health difficulties. These sessions aim to encourage creativity and develop self esteem using a variety of art materials and techniques.

Women's Felt Work

A project to enable women to come together to explore their creativity and to experiment with making felt.

Masks & Puppets

Workshops run with "Support After Adoption" for children and parents, exploring thoughts and feelings through the medium of puppets and mask making.

Designing

A workshop for adopted young people to design the cover for their video about adoption. The young people produced images which were worked on in 'Photoshop' to come up with the finished piece.

Glass Painting

A day session with birth mothers to provide mutual support and encouragement and have some creative fun.

 

Training Days

Training days for teachers, health care professionals, pre school practitioners and other professionals wanting to develop their creative skills. Sessions are hands on, introduce a range of materials and techniques, and enable participants to have fun.
